Heart Wellness
Rule

On this web site we pay special attention to the effect of emotions on your health and reframing your past. No where is that more evident than with the heart. The attention of doctors and scientists has now focused on the emotional effects on heart health as evidenced by the recent book by Dr Mehmet Oz entitled Healing the from the Heart, a Leading Heart Surgeon Explores the Power of Complementary Medicine. This new interest reinforces the work previously done by Heart Math® on achieving "resonance" in the heart and by Paul Pearsall PhD described in his book, The Heart's Code.

I come to this interest in heart health the hard way—my own experience. Several years ago I encountered my own heart challenge which resulted in a stay in the hospital. My life went into a tailspin. However, the Universe wanted me to use this experience as a gateway to a better life. There are no accidents. And in this case, I was more prepared than I thought. I already was seeing a nutritionist, I had access to an homeopathic physican and I was able to immediately have an HMR session the week after my release from the hospital. (Incredible timing since the creator of the technique lives 2500 miles from me and just "happened" to be scheduled here.) I also live in an area that boasts three of the best cardiac hospitals in the country.

Heart Facts

Let's look at some interesting facts about the heart.

The heart is our most powerful organ. The heart is the largest generator of electromagnetic energy in our body and produces, sends and receives a broad spectrum of other types and frequencies of energy over time.

The heart responds directly to the environment. The heart contracts when an electromagnet is placed near it and also reacts neuro-hormonally to the outside world, with and without the brain's awareness.

The heart resonates with information-containing energy. No matter how subtle and as yet unmeasurable, memory exists within matter in the form of energy.

The heart is a conductor of the energy of the body's cells. The subtle form of energy emitted, conducted and received by the heart is sufficient to cause significant changes in the cells of the body that may be described as energetic cellular memories. (The Heart's Code, Paul Pearsall PhD)

Complementary Therapies

In conjunction with the allopathic treatments available for heart maladies, there are several actions you can take to make yourself feel better and heal more effectively. The first and foremost is to be educated. Stay proactive and use your intuition; weigh all the facts and select the combination that is going to work for you. Following are several complementary therapies to choose from for your self care. This list is by no means exhaustive. And remember, never stop any medical treatments without checking with your doctor first.

  • Reframing your past
Find out what emotions are still lingering in your cellular memory. One of the most profound techniques for doing so is described here under HMR—Holographic Memory Resolution®. Whatever technique or process your choose, letting go of what's "stuck" greatly enhances the body's own ability to heal.
  • Visualization and affirmations
Seeing yourself in a healthy situation gives your body the blueprint to create what you want. Affirmations have power; words have great power as demonstrated by Larry Dossey's work on prayer. The words reinforce your pictures and advise the brain what to create. If said with feeling, the heart becomes involved and all the resources available from this powerful organ are put into play as well.
  • Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy has been found to lower the heart rate, stabilize blood pressure, calm breathing to a normal level and relax muscles as well as reduce the need for pain medications.
  • Homeopathy
Like cures like. Homeopathy has been around for almost 200 years and was the primary method of healing until about 60 years ago. Each person is different and homeopathy treats the whole person. Homeopathy recognizes small differences between one patient and another, and views the human body an integrated whole. Find a qualified homeopath and see what s/he can do for you.
  • Massage therapy
Treatments help return blood to the heart, stimulate the lymphatic system, stretch the connective tissue of the skin, muscles, affect the function of the stomach, small intestines and colon. Massage has also been shown to have profound effects on the hormonal and immune systems.
  • Nutrition
Take advantage of specific supplements that have been shown to help the heart and your overall well-being. Don't begin taking supplements on your own. Find a qualified nutritionist. Some heart medications have specific contraindications with certain supplements.
  • Stress busters
Staying calm and remaining positive will keep your sight on your goal of attaining and maintaining good heart health.
    • Meditation — stopping the "chatter" in our heads, even for only minutes a day, relaxes our body and connects us with a sense of wholeness greater than ourselves.
    • Aromatherapy — effective for many ailments. Essential oils rubbed on the feet have altered heart rate variability, demonstrating that scent can affect the body's autonomic nervous system.
    • Touch therapies — Reiki, Healing Touch, Therapeutic Touch etc
    • Music — several CDs and cassettes are available. Some are just to soothe (especially in traffic!), for use with meditation, to calm the senses to fall asleep or just to enjoy. Again, choose what feels good to you. HeartMath also provides specific music for the rhythms of the heart.
  • Sanctuary and Feng Shui
Create a place that is just yours. Surround yourself with items that bring joy to your heart. Keep a journal, your music, your tapes, your special books all in a healing space that brings you serenity. Place energizing objects in the Health sector of your bedroom, your home, your office.

Heart Healthy Tips
Here are some health tips from the people at Real Age.com

Heart Breaker
Spending too much time away from your significant other can literally be hard on your heart.
A recent study revealed that couples that had little contact with one another during a three-year period experienced higher blood pressure readings than couples that were in more frequent contact. Over time, high blood pressure can cause the heart to pump less efficiently.

Happy Heart Workout
Regular workouts not only will make your heart stronger, they may make your heart happier, too.
Research shows that regular exercise reduces negative feelings. In a recent study, people who exercised at least two to three times per week experienced significantly less depression, anger, stress, and distrust in their lives than people who did not exercise.

Happy Healing
Want to help your body heal better? Get happy.
A recent study suggests that negative emotions may inhibit the healing process. In the study, people who were found to be the most anxious and depressed were four times more likely to experience delayed healing of a chronic wound than people who were the least anxious and depressed.
